Photography at Middlesex University is a well-regarded programme which encourages a high level of creativity, thinking and flexibility. Alumni work in professional photography practice, in editorial photography, as independent practitioners, curators and writers. Graduates exit with professional quality portfolios, an awareness of the contemporary context and a high level of technical skill. Photography students gain a wide range of skills in photography practice from camera and lens handling, processing and printing from film, digital workflow, studio lighting, professional practice and research and written communication. There are outstanding technical facilities, with conventional darkrooms, an extensive digital darkroom, three studios (with flash etc) and free camera and lighting hire. Students can specialise in their final year, in fashion photography, conceptual work, documentary, portraiture, landscape photography etc. There are frequent guest speakers and all students have an industry portfolio review before graduating.
